Images in magazines and on television may cause increased body dissatisfaction in adolecents.

Adolescents who read magazines and watch television contents that deal with the concept of image prove to be unhappier with their own bodies. Girls are more susceptible to experiencing a lower perception of their physical appearance. Body dissatisfaction is linked to the type of content that is consumed (diet, beauty, health or music videos) rather than the frequency of exposure.

    I truly love this site. Blogs on dealing with voices of the “experts” on rules on how much fruits and vegetables we need. What not to eat and the amount and type of exercise we need. Dealing with eliminating the voices that tell us what we ” should do ” would be great! You remind me of Ellyn Satters work, I highly respect her. I also like that you share the time in your life when you spoke about your own food and exercise rigid behaviour. Looking forward to more of your honest tell it like it is blogs.
